I know what you are thinking. Just what the world needs – another idiot showing off the wonderful cakes they make and the inventive flavour combinations they have concocted. And I couldn't agree more!
But then I had another wee think. How many times have you looked at the photos on a cake blog, and thought "That cake is burnt!", or "What a mess..."? Baking blogs, it seems, are often written by people who have a very high opinion of their baking and decorating skills, despite the evidence of their own eyes. And don't get me started on those bloggers who think it is acceptible to list a packet mix as the only ingredient for "their" cake...
So yes, why shouldn't I have a cake blog? I may not be the best cake decorator that ever lived, I may not be able to pipe neatly, but at least I bake from scratch. I would also like to claim that I never burn anything, but that would be lying. Rest assured, however, that I am not deluded enough to photograph a burnt cake, let alone post a picture of one online and expect the admiring comments to flood in.The gallery above (if it is working... the script to do it is a little flaky!) should show some of my better creations, while the menu on the left will link to recipes or details of my more adventurous cakes, depending on my random whims.
